Brunei fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Vietnam in their second game of the AFF Under-15 Championship in Thailand yesterday after conceding a late winner.
The team, playing in their first international tournament, drew 0-0 with Timor Leste in Monday's tournament opener.
"The boys played very well today, carrying out their tactical responsibilities with strong commitment," said head coach Stephen Ng
"Team shaping, especially in defence, was good with many battles in 2v2 situations well won.
"Vietnam took the lead with a long shot on goal in the 15th minute before we equalised in the closing min of the first half (through Aminuddin Hj Masri).
"Vietnam's winning goal came late in game in the 75th minute after well-worked combination play exposed our right back to go through to score.
"Overall, it was the best game played between a Brunei side with a Vietnam side in recent years.
"Our U15 boys showed their football potential today."
Brunei next face Malaysia on Friday.
